The traffic light decided on the 2022 relief package. This is the government’s response to the effects of the war in Ukraine. Families benefit from the child bonus.
Updated from April 27, 2022, at 12:41: The 2022 aid package is in effect: At a cabinet meeting, the federal government set out planned aid measures to offset high energy costs. Among other things, politicians agreed on a fixed energy price tariff of 300 euros, a fuel discount, a Hartz IV subsidy and a child benefit bonus of 100 euros, which parents must receive once per child. The multibillion-dollar aid package aims to bring support to citizens in the midst of the war in Ukraine.
Child benefit bonus: cabinet welcomes 2022 aid package – one-time payment of 100 euros can be paid
Berlin – The cost of living was high even before the war in Ukraine led by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Families with several children but also beneficiaries of social benefits like Hartz IV faced an precarious situation. Meanwhile, costs for energy and fuel prices have risen dramatically. The traffic light coalition is reacting to this with the relief package of 2022, which includes, among other things, the child bonus. But what is it about and when will the money be paid at all?
Child bonus set: Traffic light presents relief package 2022 – families receive a payment of 100 euros per child
In order for families to be financially supported, the child bonus comes into force through the aid package decided by politicians. In addition to child support, a one-time payment of 100 euros per child must be paid through the family benefits office. As with payments in Corona 2020 and 2021, the child bonus will be offset by the child allowance.
This means that the biggest winners hardly or not at all benefit from this measure through the aid package from SPD, FDP and Greens. The situation is different with the beneficiaries of social benefits, who receive a further one-time payment of 100 euros, in addition to the subsidy of 100 euros that has already been established. In the 2022 aid package, this also applies to Hartz IV recipients, for example.
Child bonus and child benefit in Germany: All parents in Germany are entitled to payments
As of January 2023, standard requirements would have to rise within reasonable limits due to rising prices. However, consumer advocates had already criticized that financial aid in the form of an aid package would not suffice. Because people who already have little money available would not be enough with one-time payments.
But what about the child bonus? First of all, in principle, all parents in Germany are entitled to monthly payments. Child Benefit * aims to support mothers and fathers in covering the cost of clothing or food for their children. It does not matter if the child is yours. Adopted children, sometimes even adoptive children, also receive this payment.
The Corona child bonus was paid in 2020 and 2021 – now the child bonus comes in the 2022 aid package in response to rising energy prices
Due to the coron pandemic, an additional child bonus was only approved in 2020. For each child, legal guardians have received a payment of 300 euros. In 2021, such a supportive payment, i.e. another child bonus, was approved by politicians. However, this was only 150 euros per child.
According to “inFranken.de”, a child bonus linked to the crown will be canceled in 2022. Instead, on Friday, March 25, 2022, the bonus was once placed as part of the aid package. It is still unclear when the child bonus will finally be paid in the manner described.
Aid package 2022: traffic light coalition decides on consumer aid – fixed energy prices and 9-in-90 tickets on buses and trains
In addition to the child bonus, the leaders of the ruling parties have also imposed other measures within their aid package. As a direct reaction to the increase in energy prices, a fixed energy price tariff of 300 euros was approved for consumers. In 2022, this should still be a one-time payment through income tax. The flat energy rate should probably be introduced in June and benefit all employees in Germany.
In addition, the traffic light coalition plans to set up a nine-euro-a-month ticket for buses and trains for 90 days. A special benefit in local public transport (publikPNV), for which federal states have yet to receive adequate funding.
Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) decides on a reservoir discount – Hartz IV recipients receive a single payment of an additional 100 euros
However, these are by no means all the points included in the assistance package other than the child bonus. In addition, there is also the fuel reduction promoted by Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP). In this way the traffic light reacts to current developments by reducing the energy tax on fuel. The price of fuel for gasoline will be reduced by 30 cents and the price per liter for diesel by 14 cents. A possible start date for the tank descent as a fuel price curb for diesel and gasoline was also considered by Lindner.
On the other hand, as mentioned at the beginning, the traffic light included in its aid package also the beneficiaries of Hartz IV and social assistance. You will receive an additional 100 euros once. It is not yet known when this money will be paid extra at the standard Hartz IV rate.
As the 2022 aid package is over the Crown: The Omicron variant is spreading at breakneck speed
With its aid package and accompanying measures such as rewarding children, the traffic light coalition is reacting to current developments. However, it should not be forgotten that the corona virus continues to place a heavy burden on society.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports new high levels of the number of coronary infections almost every day. This is mainly due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. To make matters worse, it is not always clear what symptoms are actually present with an omicron infection. The situation is even more drastic with the omicron BA.2 subtype and its symptoms, of which science has little knowledge, while a new symptom of omicron after a coronary infection is causing an unpleasant sensation.
Request for discount masks and supermarkets: will the crown rule no longer apply in Aldi, Edeka, Lidl and Rewe after April 2, 2022?
And yet the demand for masks at retail can be canceled. In supermarkets and discount stores like Aldi, Edeka, Lidl or Rewe, the Corona rule will definitely apply until April 2, 2022. But what happens next? Countries can decide independently and extend the demand for masks. The same goes for shop operators who can exercise their right of residence.
However, if the sub-order remains the same, demand for the mask threatens to expire everywhere in retail – and so on at discount stores and supermarkets. So it’s time to make a decision. This has already been done by the traffic light coalition regarding the 2022 aid package. Measures such as the child bonus or the tank deduction are proof of this.
The financial aspect seems to have been considered at the moment. Now, however, health should not be less important. After all, several hundred people die from Corona every day – in Germany alone. * kreiszeitung.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
