April 25, 2022 – Sky releases the official trailer and launch date for the HBO series “The Staircase”, starring BAFTA and Oscar® winner Colin Firth (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”, “A Single Man”) as Michael Peterson and Toni Collette (“Knives Out”, “Muriel’s Wedding”) and Kathleen Peterson. “The Staircase” will be available on request from May 5 in the original version on Sky Ticket and via Sky Q, each with one episode per week. The duplicate version will air on Sky Atlantic in July.
The eight-episode series is co-produced by Annapurna Television and written and produced by show directors Antonio Campos (“The Devil All the Time”, “Christine”) and Maggie Cohn (“Versace”). Campos will also direct six episodes, while Leigh Janiak is directing two episodes.
Based on a true story, “The Staircase” explores the life of Michael Peterson, his extended family in North Carolina, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson.
Along with Colin Firth and Tony Collette are Michael Stuhlbarg (“Your Honor”), Juliette Binoche (“Chocolat”), Dane DeHaan (“ZeroZeroZero”), Olivia DeJonge (“Elvis”), Rosemarie DeWitt (“Little Fires Everywhere”), Tim Guinee (“Inventing Anna”), Patrick Schwarzenegger (“Moxie. Time to Strike Back”), Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”), Vincent Vermignon (“Romy and Michele”), Odessa Young (“Shirley”) and Parker Posey (“Lost in Space”).
“The Staircase” will be shown in all regions of the Sky including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Italy.
